Show Notes

Space)doxa at the Graffiti Gallery has been Winnipeg’s source for outsider musical performances for years. I talked to its curator, Greg Hanec, about some of the upcoming events — acoustic, electronic and otherwise — coming up at the Higgins Ave. venue over the next few months.

Sprinkled throughout are musical selections by space)doxa participants (chosen by Greg) including The Inflatable Band, French Class, Patrick Michalishyn, and Philia.

Note: Because we're in the middle of a pandemic and changes to restrictions are happening fluidly, at least one of the events Greg discusses on the episode (the first one) has already been cancelled. Here's hoping the rest of them go smoothly!

This episode brought to you by our pals at Devine Shirt Company and by Gruf and Yy's new 'Mental Health Day' album on Saskatoon Folk Rap Records.

WR563: The Naked Midgets

If you were around Portage la Prairie (or various Winnipeg basement shows) in the late ‘90s/early ‘00s, you might remember a punk band called [the Naked Midgets](http://www.facebook.com/groups/43726568206). Don’t worry, they’re not back... but we did have a great conversation reminiscing about the all-ages scene, opening for Propagandhi in Portage, lighting one’s own legs on fire, that terrible, terrible band name, and much more. This episode brought to you by [Devine Shirt Company](http://devineshirtcompany.ca/). Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on [Patreon](http://www.patreon.com/witchpolice). WR193: The Human Rights

Toronto's finest reggae act is hitting a Winnipeg stage for the first time in four years this weekend. The Human Rights, a group with a deep roots (no pun intended) in Canada's reggae scene, are playing the West End Cultural Centre on Aug. 21 as part of their #ReggaeForRefugees tour. We talked to frontman Friendlyness (who you may also know from groups like Big Sugar... and if you go back far enough, Culture Shock) about the tour, the group's lineup changes -- including the addition of vocalist Treson as a full-fledged member -- their brand new record and more! ...
