Show Notes

This is the police episode. It's a little long, rambly and off-topic, but I think it's actually a pretty solid program. The song selection is great, and although we tend to go way off-topic on this one, there's some pretty interesting stuff, including a rant about third-wave ska, a critique of Paul McCartney's "Nirvana" performance and some discussion about the local rap scene. This'll (likely) be the last episode for 2012, as the holidays mean we're going to be hard-pressed to record and post anything until the new year (although who knows, maybe it'll happen).

WR642: The Noble Thiefs

Can you believe Winnipeg rock n' soul giants The Noble Thiefs — in all the years I’ve been doing this show — have never been on the podcast before? We remedied that with this conversation, as I sat down with Myron (vocals) and Riley (guitar) to talk about the band’s deadly new single and video, soul music and authenticity, navigating the weird world of streaming, and much more. This episode brought to you by our pals at Devine Shirt Company.Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on Patreon, including our latest patron, Art Antony! WR742: Matt Pitre a/k/a Jerry Can

Had a good chat on the podcast with Matt Pitre, who you may recognize from metal outfit Book of Ghosts! We talked about new music from that project, as well as his new hip-hop venture as Jerry Can, upcoming group Neighbours... and much more! NOTE: Due to an equipment issue, the first three minutes or so of the interview has fairly crappy sound quality (mostly my end of the conversation), but after that, it's fine. Thanks for your patience. Want more Book of Ghosts? Check out episode #452 (Jan. 2020).
