Show Notes

The fellas and I took a break from Witchpolice Radio over the holidays, so our loyal listeners (all 10 of them) had to go without the dulcet tones of our voices for two whole weeks. I imagine the withdrawal must have been terrible. Anyway, we return with episode 7, themed around fire. If it sounds like we're just getting these themes from a random word generator... well, we kind of are. As usual on the show, we all pick songs that are loosely based on the one-word theme, and this week turned out to be a pretty awesome selection. We did get a little sidetracked by a series of long rants about neck tattoos, mind you.

WR172: Duotang

Fifteen years after the release of their last album, iconic Winnipeg two-piece Duotang -- best-known for their late-90s Mint Records output -- are back with a new release coming in 2016! Rod Slaughter (bass/vocals) and Sean Allum (drums) talk about gettin' the band back together, their new record, a bit of history and that pesky "mod" label that critics have always used to describe their sound. Mixed in with the interview are rough versions of some new Duotang songs, some old classics, and a live performance at the end! ...

WR405: One of Us

[One of Us](http://oneofus204.bandcamp.com/) is relatively new to the Winnipeg music scene as a band, but the band members are longtime veterans of the local punk rock community, having played in punk bands for decades. We talk about their sound, the undying appeal of melodic hardcore, their upcoming gigs – including a [Jarvis fire benefit](http://www.facebook.com/events/2550501931647873/[text](http://)) and dream gigs opening for the likes of Propagandhi and Good Riddance – and a lot more. There's also a killer live acoustic performance, as well as a sneak peek at some new material. This episode is brought to you by Osborne Village’s new pop-up record store, [Old Gold Vintage Vinyl](http://www.instagram.com/oldgoldvintagevinyl204/), and by our pals at [The Park Theatre](http://myparktheatre.com/). ...

WR344: Wittenberg

A few weeks back, I asked listeners which local bands they'd like to hear on the show. One of the names that came up was [Wittenberg](http://wittenberg.bandzoogle.com/home), a new-on-the-scene duo I'd never heard of before. This episode is my conversation with both members of Wittenberg. We talk about their debut album, Perennial, about how the songs went from a bedroom solo project to a full-fledged band, incorporating backing tracks into their live shows, and much more. This episode is brought to you by our friends at [the Park Theatre](http://myparktheatre.com/). Thanks to everyone who has supported the podcast thus far. Thanks to supporters like you, we can keep churning out interviews twice a week!
