Show Notes

Space)doxa at the Graffiti Gallery has been Winnipeg’s source for outsider musical performances for years. I talked to its curator, Greg Hanec, about some of the upcoming events — acoustic, electronic and otherwise — coming up at the Higgins Ave. venue over the next few months.

Sprinkled throughout are musical selections by space)doxa participants (chosen by Greg) including The Inflatable Band, French Class, Patrick Michalishyn, and Philia.

Note: Because we're in the middle of a pandemic and changes to restrictions are happening fluidly, at least one of the events Greg discusses on the episode (the first one) has already been cancelled. Here's hoping the rest of them go smoothly!

This episode brought to you by our pals at Devine Shirt Company and by Gruf and Yy's new 'Mental Health Day' album on Saskatoon Folk Rap Records.

WR155: Daniel Peloquin-Hopfner / Michael Elves

Once a year, we help out our pals at UMFM 101.5 during their Pledge-O-Rama fund drive and head down to the UMFM studios to record a live on-air episode. We've done it in 2013, 2014 and now 2015 as well. This episode was recorded about a month ago, on election night, just minutes after we watched Stephen Harper's concession speech on live TV. Our guests were Daniel Peloquin-Hopfner of excellent roots/folk trio Red Moon Road and UMFM's own program director Michael Elves ...

WR376: Paige Drobot

Pop/psychedelic/progressive... [Paige Drobot](http://paigedrobot.bandcamp.com/)'s sound is hard to define, but it draws from a number of (coincidentally alliterative) genres – all of which are on display on her upcoming solo EP, Zero Thought. We talk about the record, teaching guitar, being weird, gravitating toward the avant-garde, and much more. There also may have been a drug deal going down while we recorded this in a parking lot. Oh, and you can also hear Paige's cover of a Johnny Sizzle (!) tune on this episode. This episode brought to you by our pals at [Transistor 66 Record Co.](http://www.transistor66.com/paigedrobot) and The [Park Theatre](http://myparktheatre.com/)! Thanks to everyone who has supported the podcast thus far. Thanks to supporters like you, we can keep churning out interviews twice a week! If you like the show, please head down to [patreon.com/witchpolice](http://www.patreon.com/witchpolice) and for as little as a $1 month (less than 12 cents an episode), you can help keep the lights on! ...

WR161: Cilly Cyb Fung High

Things get a little cosmic this week as we sit down with Kumaran Reddy of psychedelic jam collective Cilly Cyb Fung High and the LSD25 Records label. We talk "attention" songs, reggae, Kumaran's YouTube strategy (it's the only place his music is available), overdubs and a lot more! ...
