WR425: The Gerry Hatricks

Progressive folk-rock-punk foursome [The Gerry Hatricks](http://thegerryhatricks.bandcamp.com/releases) are on the verge of releasing their excellent self-titled debut EP, so we sat down in a dog-filled living room to talk all about it. The group, which is an extension and expansion of frontman Gerrit Delaquis' solo sound, discusses the songs' complexity and technicality, the process of recording and writing the EP, and a lot more. They also perform four acoustic songs, and since – at the time this is being released – there isn't a ton of Gerry Hatricks material available until the record hits Bandcamp on Oct. 11, it's a cool way to get an advance listen. This episode is brought to you by our friends at [The Park Theatre](http://myparktheatre.com/). ...

In memoriam: John B. Duff

(This episode was originally released in August 2015) I’ll be the first to admit I’m not very hip to the local comedy scene, but way back in 2015, [we did an episode](http://witchpolice.com/e/wr141-oddblock-comedy-festival-354033ed1f98a2L/) about the then-new Oddblock Comedy Festival. One of the guests on that episode was comedian John B. Duff. You may have heard that John passed away from cancer recently, so I’m re-releasing this episode. I barely knew him, but he was a really funny guy, and – based on all the tributes I’ve been seeing on social media over the past few days – clearly a huge figure in the local community. Please note this is in the old format of the show, and the audio quality is godawful, but I think it’s important to re-release episodes when guests pass (which is happening entirely too often lately). I hope you enjoy this episode despite its (many) technical flaws. Fuck cancer. RIP Mr. Duff. ...
